This constitution will be thrown into dustbin: MK Anwar
DHAKA :: BNP Standing Committee Member MK Anwar commented that the constitution following the 15th amendment will be thrown into the dustbin of history. Anwar was addressing a discussion meeting at the National Press Club Friday on the 19-Point Charter of Ziaur Rahman organised by Jatiyatabadi Peshajibi Parishad.
He also said, “I am not aware of any constitution in the world which includes the speech of a political leader.”
MK Anwar added, “There are many leaders in the 14-Party Alliance who are in favour of the caretaker government system, but Sheikh Hasina is seeking to cling to power.”
Criticising the 4th amendment, Anwar said, “It destroyed the autonomy of the press and the independence of the judiciary which were later restored thru the 5th amendment by Ziaur Rahman.”
The meeting was also addressed by Jatiyatabadi Peshajibi Parishad President Abul Kashem Haidar, Dr Anwarullah Chowdhury and Jatiyatabadi Mahila Dal General Secretary Shirin Sultana.
